Taronga Mines attends the opening of Rise and Thrive

Taronga Mines was pleased to attend the opening of Glen Innes’ Rise and Thrive program, held as part of NSW Small Business Month.
The program brings local businesses together to build connections, share ideas and develop practical skills, with events at the Glen Innes Highlands Hub throughout October.
We welcome opportunities to connect with our local business community and celebrate the people and enterprises contributing to the region’s future. Congratulations to the organisers on bringing this program to Glen Innes.

Taronga Mines connects with Glen Innes TAFE construction students

Taronga Mines recently spoke with the Glen Innes TAFE construction class, sharing an update on the Taronga project and discussing potential future employment opportunities.
The talk provided an opportunity to explore how the skills students are developing could apply to work on the project as it progresses.
Thank you to the students and teaching staff for welcoming us. We look forward to staying connected with Glen Innes TAFE as students build their skills and prepare for careers in the industry.

We are moving closer to what we hope will be an approval for our Taronga Mine. “We are hoping to have development consent by October, but that will depend on timeframes of the various government departments that are currently reviewing our application,” Mr Truelove said.
There is still work to do on Biodiversity and Plans of Management, but we are steadily working towards meeting all the expected standards. We know our community expects us to be environmentally responsible and we know that they are also interested in employment.
“During construction, up to 200 short term jobs will be generated, and during full scale production we will have around 150 full-time employees,” Mr Truelove said.
“We will be giving preference to locals as this will benefit the local community, ease accommodation requirements, and enable us to be a significant part of the local community.”
The jobs are not just specialist mining jobs either, with roles available for truck drivers, loader and digger operators, fitters, boilermakers, mechanics, electricians, process operators, administration staff and accountants.
“We intend to hire as many local people as we can,” Mr Truelove said.
