New England Times Publishes Taronga Update

We are moving closer to what we hope will be an approval for our Taronga Mine. “We are hoping to have development consent by October, but that will depend on timeframes of the various government departments that are currently reviewing our application,” Mr Truelove said.
There is still work to do on Biodiversity and Plans of Management, but we are steadily working towards meeting all the expected standards. We know our community expects us to be environmentally responsible and we know that they are also interested in employment.
“During construction, up to 200 short term jobs will be generated, and during full scale production we will have around 150 full-time employees,” Mr Truelove said.
“We will be giving preference to locals as this will benefit the local community, ease accommodation requirements, and enable us to be a significant part of the local community.”
The jobs are not just specialist mining jobs either, with roles available for truck drivers, loader and digger operators, fitters, boilermakers, mechanics, electricians, process operators, administration staff and accountants.
“We intend to hire as many local people as we can,” Mr Truelove said.

Response to Submissions Available

Taronga Mines Pty Ltd is pleased to advise that the Response to Submissions (RtS) Report for the Taronga Tin Project is now available.
The RtS Report has been prepared following the public exhibition of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and addresses the submissions received from community members, government agencies and other stakeholders during the exhibition period.
The report provides additional information, clarification and responses to matters raised throughout the consultation process. It forms an important part of the State Significant Development assessment process and reflects Taronga Mines’ ongoing commitment to transparent engagement and responsible project planning.
The RtS Report is available to view on the New South Wales Planning Portal under the Taronga Tin Mine project. Click Here. Community members and stakeholders are encouraged to review the document and stay informed as the project progresses through the assessment process.
Taronga Mines appreciates the time and effort taken by those who participated in the exhibition process and provided feedback. Community input continues to play an important role in the development of the project.
What Happens Next?
Following submission of the RtS Report, the project will continue through the New South Wales Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure assessment process. The Department will review the Environmental Impact Statement, submissions received during exhibition, the Response to Submissions Report, and advice from relevant government agencies before making a recommendation regarding the project. The project will then proceed to determination in accordance with the State Significant Development assessment framework.

The survey provides an opportunity for community members to share their views on the Taronga Tin Project, our community engagement activities, and areas where we can improve. Feedback received through the survey helps guide our engagement approach and ensures we continue to provide information and opportunities for involvement that are meaningful to the community.
The survey will remain open from 1 June to 30 June 2026. All responses are confidential, and participation is limited to one entry per person.
As a thank you for participating, respondents will go into the draw to win one of two $100 Home Timber & Hardware gift cards.
We encourage all community members to take part and help shape how we engage with the community in the future.

Taronga Mines Pty Ltd looks for opportunities to support our community-based events and initiatives in Emmaville and neighbouring communities where there is a demonstrated benefit for the community in at least one of these areas:
- Economic benefits (including revitalisation)
- Education benefits
- Community infrastructure (in cooperation with Councils)
- Community cohesion (e.g. sporting and cultural programs, teams and events).
